Volume rises again as BTC turns higher but stays below its average

After the heavier-volume decline described in the previous daily report, BTC has edged higher on even more trading, showing some support at lower prices. Yet it remains below its short-term average, so the rebound has not reversed the weak trend. The view for the next 24 hours remains bearish; the question is whether fresh buying can hold price above that average.

More volume has recovered only part of the decline

BTC stands at 82,194.90 USDT, up 0.54% over the past 24 hours. The previous report's concern was that heavier trading failed to support price during the fall. Price has now turned higher despite similarly active trading, suggesting sellers no longer dominate every move. The rise is modest, however: BTC is still below its 10-day average of 82,851.89 USDT and its 30-day average of 83,185.06 USDT. A shift from falling to rebounding matters, but it is too early to call it a repaired trend.

Volume reached 214,658 BTC over the past 24 hours, against a historical mean of 146,507 BTC. It exceeds that of about 87% of 180 comparable periods measured at the same cutoff. More trading has delivered a gain of just 0.54%: buyers have provided support, but selling remains substantial above current prices. BTC fell as low as 79,732.30 USDT during the past 24 hours before returning above 82,000 USDT. That recovery shows buyers could absorb one sharp drop. If price cannot keep climbing toward its average, higher volume may simply mean wider swings rather than a sustained advance.

Trading increased, but price remains below its short-term average.

Active buying has improved while the funding backdrop stays cool

The latest active buying minus active selling trend is positive at about 121 BTC. It is higher than in about 83% of comparable periods and is the clearest counterpoint to the bearish view. Price and buying have risen together, an improvement from yesterday's combination of more trading and further losses. This reading captures short-term trading pressure, though; by itself it cannot establish that buyers will keep stepping in.

Stablecoin supply fell 0.55% over 7 days, versus a historical mean decline of 0.09%. That funding measure is lower than in about 83% of comparable periods. ETF net inflows over 5 days reached 2,110 ten-thousand-dollar units, offering some cushion, but the longer window cannot explain each trade today. The broader signal remains bearish, consistent with price below its average and a cool funding backdrop. Improving active buying is a real disagreement with that view and leaves room for a further rebound.

BTC price and cumulative active buying minus selling

Near-term buying has improved; persistence still needs checking.

A sustained move back above the average would change the view

Over the next 24 hours, watch whether BTC regains its 10-day average of 82,851.89 USDT while volume stays active and buyers continue to lead. If both happen, the bearish assessment should be revisited. If price instead approaches the 24-hour low of 79,732.30 USDT again and heavier trading shifts toward active selling, the rebound's support will face a tougher test. What matters now is whether buying can make the recovery stick, not a few more hours of gains.

Data note:As of 2026-10-16 09:30 UTC+8, price and volume cover the past 24 hours. Historical comparisons use 180 periods at the same cutoff; funding measures retain their own observation windows.
