BTC moved above its short-term average yesterday, only to slip back below it today. Trading picked up, but price fell 0.92% over the past 24 hours. Our view for the next 24 hours is bearish. The key change is that yesterday's recovery failed to hold as activity increased; renewed buying would call for a reassessment.
More trading failed to hold the average regained yesterday
At 08:45 Beijing time, BTC stood at 81,593.00 USDT, below its 10-day average of 82,245.55 USDT. Yesterday it stood at 82,447.30 USDT, having only just regained that average. The reversal shows that support for the rebound is fragile. BTC traded between 81,381.50 and 83,157.90 USDT over the past 24 hours and ended near the low. It also remains below its 30-day average of 83,597.28 USDT, keeping the short-term setback within a longer weak stretch.
Volume rose from 102,167 BTC in the previous daily report to 128,650 BTC, yet price turned from a 1.04% gain to a 0.92% loss. More activity failed to sustain the rise. That is the core reason for the bearish view. Still, volume was below the historical mean of 146,104 BTC across 180 comparable periods and near the middle of its usual range. This is not evidence of exceptional selling across the market. Together, price and volume show yesterday's rebound being tested, with sellers holding the edge for now.

Volume rose from yesterday, while price fell back below its short-term average.
Short-term momentum weakens, but buying has not vanished
RSI, a gauge of short-term price momentum, fell to 32.75 from a historical mean of 50.58. Only about 8 of 180 comparable periods were as low or lower. This points to more than an ordinary small fluctuation. The recent trend in active buying minus active selling was about negative 79 BTC, below roughly 84% of comparable periods. Both readings support the message from price falling back below its average. The combined signal is bearish as well.
The counterpoint is that a separate measure of net active buying remains near its historical middle, while overall volume is not unusually high. A price decline does not mean buyers have left, and weak momentum cannot guarantee further losses. ETF funds have seen a net outflow of 3.25 hundred million US dollars over 5 days. That is a wider funding backdrop, not an explanation for any single stretch of selling; it limits confidence in a rapid return to strength.

Momentum is weak; watch whether buying returns.
Regaining the average would challenge the bearish view
Watch first for BTC to regain and hold its 10-day average near 82,245.55 USDT as trading rises. If active buying also improves, the bearish view needs reassessment. If price stays below the average and breaks this period's low of 81,381.50 USDT, yesterday's recovery will look more like a brief rebound.
Data context: As of 2026-10-20 08:45 UTC+8, price and volume cover the past 24 hours. Historical comparisons use 180 periods measured at the same cutoff; the ETF measure retains its own five-day window.
