ETF outflows narrow as BTC edges higher, but funding rates reach a rare high

BTC rose another 0.43% over the past 24 hours to 80,605.00 USDT, and its intraday low was slightly higher than in the previous daily report. Five-day ETF net outflows narrowed from 10.49 to 3.03, both in hundreds of millions of US dollars. These are constructive changes, but trading volume fell and price remains below its 10-day average. Our view for the next 24 hours is bearish: the rebound has buyers, but lacks confirmation from sustained trading activity. Funding rates are also unusually high, so a small price gain alone is not enough to establish a stronger market.

The low moved higher, but the rebound drew less trading

This period's low of 79,468.30 USDT was above the previous report's 79,321.80 USDT, while the close rose from 80,050.00 USDT to 80,605.00 USDT. Two modest gains and a higher low are real counterevidence to the bearish view. Still, 24-hour volume slipped from 119,913 BTC to 105,849 BTC, below the historical mean of 145,731 BTC across 180 comparable periods at the same cutoff time. About 72% of those periods had more trading. That means participation did not grow with the price recovery, leaving its durability unproven. The close also remains below the 10-day average of 81,550.31 USDT, so the short-term trend has yet to turn with the improved low.

The low edged higher, but volume during the rebound remains below normal.

Narrower ETF outflows help, while the broader funding backdrop stays tight

Narrower five-day ETF net outflows are the clearest relief from yesterday's pressure: the rapid expansion in outflows did not continue. They are still outflows, however, and do not show that fresh capital is flowing in steadily. Seven-day stablecoin supply growth was negative 0.85%, versus a historical mean of negative 0.19%; only about 9 of 180 comparable periods were as low or lower. This slower-moving measure points to a tight capital backdrop. It cannot explain today's price move directly, but it limits confidence in the rebound. Taken together, price, volume and capital flows leave the overall signal weak.

High funding rates make the modest gain worth testing

Funding rates are periodic payments between long and short positions in perpetual contracts and offer a rough gauge of market positioning. The 24-hour average was positive 0.009340%, above its historical mean of positive 0.004352%; only about 7 of 180 comparable periods were higher. That suggests bullish interest remains, another reason price could recover. Yet with lower volume and price still below its short-term average, positioning cannot substitute for sustained buying. If volume recovers, price holds above around 81,550.31 USDT and ETF outflows keep narrowing or turn to inflows, we would reassess the bearish view. If the rebound loses volume again and price falls below 79,468.30 USDT, support at the lows will face another test.
